Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Steven Tanus started his musical education at the age of 4. His teachers include Stephen Tamadji and Prof Dr Thomas Hecht. In November 2013 he took part in International Piano Festival by People with Disabilities in Vienna where he was awarded the silver medal in the visually impaired category and the prize for the best performance of Chopin. In July 2015 he again won the silver medal in the Competition held in Tokyo. In December 2018 held in New York, he won the bronze medal in the overall category and won gold medal in his category. In 2017, he attended the 9th International Engadin Summer Piano Academy held in Switzerland. In 2018, he has completed his undergraduate studies in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music majoring in piano performance and has also received a full scholarship during the entire studies. He receives his Bachelor of Music BMus (Hons) with distinction.
