Gregorius Rafel Tamadji

Born in Jakarta, Rafel attended his music lesson at the age of 3 under Susan Rahardja, to whom he still studies recently. His father, pianist Stephen Tamadji, also supervises him due to his skill improvement. Being member of Junior Original Concert (JOC) since 2008, Rafel actively compose and perform his own composition at the JOC. Besides, he actively participates many piano masterclasses by Martin Klett, Prof. Albert Tiu, Inge Buniardi, Sam Haywood, Dr. Thomas Hecht and Boris Kraljevic.

 

Rafel is an award-winning young pianist as a proof to his admiring musicality and skills. Among them are Gold Award Winner at the Indonesia Steinway Youth Piano Competition (Category C, 2016), Premier Champion at the Blüthner-National Piano Competition (Advance Category, 2017), First winner of the La Pianista Piano Competition (2017), Third Winner of the JCoM-Boston National Piano Competition (2017) and First Winner of the National Yamaha Piano Competition (Senior Category, 2017).

 

Rafel was one of 15 young pianist who had been chosen to join Yong Siew Toh Piano Academy Program in Singapore (2018). He just awarded Gold Prize in Indonesia Steinway Youth Piano Competition 2018. He also passes the audition judging and proceeds to the next phase of 7th ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition 2018 that will be held on Dec 17-23, 2018 in Malaysia.
